1. What is Testbed-as-a-Service offered by FCTLab?

FCTLab offers infrastructure that enables companies, researchers, and developers to experiment, test, and validate their 5G-related technologies, applications, and services. FCTLab provides physical environment where users can access dedicated 5G network resources, such as radio access network (RAN), core network, and edge computing capabilities, for testing purposes.

2. Why FCTLab setup 5G open testbed?

The demand for exclusive 5G network infrastructure, intended solely for use by organizations such as enterprises or specific industries, is on the rise. This demand is driven by the necessity for isolated, reliable, low-latency, and secure connectivity, tailored to meet the unique needs of each organization. 

Testing such specialized applications within the constraints of public 5G network infrastructure poses challenges. To address this, the establishment of fully equipped open interfaces testbeds becomes imperative, providing industries with the necessary facilities to test and validate their use cases and interoperability.

3. Which 5G frequency band is used in FCTLab?

FCTLab's 5G testbeds are configured to transmit on the N78 band with a 50MHz bandwidth (3.4-3.45GHz).

4. Who can access FCTLab’s 5G open testbed?

All businesses, institutes of higher learning, and government agencies will have access to FCTLab’s open testbed to test and develop 5G-enabled services and applications.

5. How do I register my interest to use FCTLab’s 5G open testbed?

To access FCTLab open 5G testbed, companies can get in touch with our dedicated team thru our hotline FCTL@SingaporeTech.edu.sg. 

We will work closely with each user to understand their requirements and tailor a solution that aligns with their goals. 

6. What are some lab facilities users could expect?

Upon request, each lab user could access project rooms, indoor playground and lockers. Our team will allocate resources for each user and assist in onboarding users.

Each Project Room has the following features:

The Indoor Playground in an area which can be used for testing and experimentation of products and services in a restricted indoor environment.

Users are able to request use of Lockers for storage purposes and all lockers are equipped with number lock.

7. Is there any cost incurred in using FCTLab's testbed?

The use of the FCTLab is at no cost to the Company. However, the Company shall bear the responsibility for and costs of disposal of all provided materials by the Company, remaining at the termination of the FCTLab usage.

8. Do I need to sign any agreement before using FCTLab's testbed?

Yes, access to the lab will only be granted after the user has signed a User Agreement. Please obtain a copy of the User Agreement by contacting our hotline at FCTL@SingaporeTech.edu.sg.
